Roberta ALUFFI is Associate Professor of Comparative Law at the Law Department of the University of Turin.

Her main fields of interest are family law in the Arab Countries, immigration law and the challenges faced by the European legal systems in integrating Islam, in the perspective of both Church-State relations and Private International Law. Another field of research concerns Arabic legal translation and legal terminology.

She has gained extensive experience in directing research units in projects funded by the Ministry of Education or by private foundations. 

She is a member of the teaching board of the PhD programme in Law of the University of Turin.

She has taught as a visiting professor or lecturer in a number of universities (University of Bordeaux, Center for Transnational Legal Studies run by Georgetown University in London, Paris Sud University, Faculty of Theology of Lugano (CH), University of Milan, University of Milan Bicocca, University of Siena, University of Alicante, University of Marrakesh).

She served on the Interior Minister’s advisory board on social integration and citizenship. She is a member of the editorial boards of the following journals:  Daimon, Annuario di Diritto Comparato delle Religioni, and Diritto, immigrazione e cittadinanza (
